What a treat it was to hear Inventi Ensemble playing in the round for a very appreciative crowd here in Albury. We definitely hope to see them up here again, and special thanks to Melissa Doecke for her wonderful flute masterclass earlier in the day - the students loved it!

Flinders Quartet will be performing the magnificent String Quartet in D minor D.810 'Death and the Maiden'. Comprising Shane Chen (violin), Nicholas Waters (violin), Helen Ireland (viola) and Zoe Knighton (cello), FQ are a quartet for the twenty-first century. Flinders Quartet continues its second decade with acknowledged musical skill and maturity. Their dynamic and stirring performances of a full spectrum of repertoire have audiences and critics articulating their esteem, and the quartet is now a highly respected force in Australian chamber music.

This exciting ensemble featuring Ben Opie (oboe), Jenny Khafagi (violin), William Clark (viola) and Paul Zabrowarny (cello) will be featuring in our final concert for the November 17-19 weekend of amazing music in Albury.   • The Albury Chamber Music Festival is excited to announce another of its confirmed artists for the upcoming 2017 festival - the wonderful cellist Svetlana Bogosavljevic. Svetlana was born in Belgrade, Serbia, into a family of prominent Yugoslavian musicians. She studied at the prestigious Special High School of the Tchaikovsky Conservatorium of Music, Moscow, the Peabody Conservatorium, Baltimore, and the Cologne Hochschule of Music. She has toured Europe, Japan, China, Australia and New Zealand as a soloist and chamber musician and recent performances include the Belgrade International Cello Festival and the KotorArt festival in Montenegro. As an orchestral musician she held the position of Associate Principal Cello with the Rheinische Philharmonie and has worked with the North German Radio Orchestra, Bamberger Symphoniker, Cologne Chamber Orchestra, Sydney Symphony, Melbourne Symphony and Singapore Symphony Orchestras. She is a founding member of the unique and critically acclaimed trio, Ensemble Liaison. With Ensemble Liaison she directs and performs a 3-concert series at the Melbourne Recital Centre along with regular performances for Musica Viva, ABC Classic FM, and appearances at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, Port Fairy and Woodend festivals. Her other passion is for teaching where she teaches at cello and chamber music at the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music, Monash University. For more information about Svetlana, see the bio link below.   • Albury Chamber Music Festival is delighted to announce the first concert for its 2018 series - tenor Shanul Sharma in concert! By popular demand, Shanul will return to Albury for another wonderful recital at St Matthews Church, Kiewa St Albury. Shanul will be accompanied by pianist Helena Kernaghan, as well as some special guest appearances from local Rising Stars.   • Pre-sale tickets have now closed for Sunday afternoon's Inventi Ensemble concert here in Albury. There are still seats available for purchase at the door (opens 1.30pm Sunday for a 2pm concert), so don't be late! For those of you interested and available, prior to the Sunday concert (10.30am) there will be a one hour flute masterclass held by Inventi's Melissa Doecke. Entry is by donation, and we hope you enjoy this wonderful opportunity for young local music students.   • The Albury Chamber Music Festival is delighted to introduce another of our confirmed artists for the 2017 festival - clarinettist David Griffiths. David Griffiths is Senior Lecturer in Clarinet, Coordinator of Woodwind and a member of Ensemble Liaison, ensemble-in-residence at the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music, Monash University. Originally from Armidale NSW, he studied at the Canberra School of Music with Alan Vivian before completing his Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music under the direction of Charles Neidich, Ricardo Morales, Alan Kay and David Krakauer. Fr Peter will be discussing next Tuesday's Festival Launch, as well as giving a sneak preview of what's to come for our November 2017 Festival 🙂

  • The Albury Chamber Music Festival is delighted to introduce the first of our confirmed performers for the 2017 festival - pianist Caroline Almonte. Melbourne-born pianist Caroline Almonte has a reputation as a gifted, versatile and sensitive artist. She has won numerous awards, including the winner of the keyboard section of the ABC Young performers awards and First prize at the international chamber music competition in Italy, Premio Trio di Trieste.   • What a fantastic opening concert we just had! Concert 2 - Rising Stars Masterclass This concert allows local up and coming chamber music performers a chance at world class learning from the wonderful Josephine Vains (strings) and the beautiful Sally-Anne Russell (vocals). Featuring Lisette Colton (soprano), Caleb Murray (cello), Julia Tomkins (violin) with Grace Kernaghan (piano). What a fantastic opportunity to see how the experts do it!
